Walter Goncalves Returning To Muay Thai Against Jacob Smith At ONE Fight Night 17

Another exciting Muay Thai clash has been added to ONE Fight Night 17 on Prime Video.

On Friday, December 8, Walter Goncalves will take on Jacob Smith in a flyweight battle between two intense competitors. Their showdown will broadcast live in U.S. primetime from Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Goncalves is returning to “the art of eight limbs” following a brief foray into the world of mixed martial arts.

The 25-year-old Brazilian lost a decision to Banma Duoji in his MMA debut this past July, and he’ll be eager to get back on track under a more familiar rule set.

He’s already faced the best of the best in Muay Thai – including reigning ONE World Champions Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmoo9 – and shown he can push them to their limits. But with a two-fight skid since his knockout of Josue Cruz at ONE 157 last year, he’ll be desperate to score the victory.

However, Smith will be equally determined to register his first ONE win, and the aggressive English striker won’t go quietly into the night.

In his promotional debut, the 31-year-old took everything Rodtang could throw at him and kept charging forward, ultimately dropping a decision to “The Iron Man” but raising his stock in the process.

Training with the likes of Liam HarrisonAndy Howson, and Amber Kitchen at Bad Company in Leeds, Smith has elite talent surrounding him, and he wants to prove that he belongs on the biggest stage in martial arts.

Goncalves and Smith are both capable of delivering show-stopping performances, and with neither known for taking a backward step, fans can expect fast-paced action from bell to bell.
